1. General Regulations

The Niko Muskhelishvili University Library of the Georgia Technical University is the one structural unit of the university functioning under the Constitution of Georgia, the Law of Georgia on Higher Education, the Statute of the Georgian Technical University, this Regulation and the applicable Georgian legislation. The provision defines the functions of the university library and the main direction of its activity.

2. Functions

The Niko Muskhelishvili University Library is the university, informational and educational structure providing library service for students, masters, doctoral students and all categories of professors. Libraries of GTU faculties are the branches of the Central Library.

The Niko Muskhelishvili University Library coordinates the work of the faculty libraries, to ensure their books bundling with academic and scientific literature in a centralized way.

The work of the Niko Muskhelishvili University Library is determined by the annual plan that is approved by the Library Council.

The Niko Muskhelishvili University Library provides purchase, bookkeeping, maintenance and use of book and periodic (both printed and electronic) publications, for which the university administration annually allocates a financial source, approved by the Representative Council.

The Niko Muskhelishvili University Library administration is financially accountable to the Head of the Administration regarding the finance issued by the Administration.

The all financial source allocations are based on the Niko Muskhelishvili University Library and Faculties needs, accord between the Central Library Leadership and the Central Library Council.

The Niko Muskhelishvili Universityl Library serves only GTU students of all levels and professors of all categories.

The one-time term for the use of the Niko Muskhelishvili University Library is: for students (all levels) - one semester, and not less than one month for professors and teachers, when after the expiration of above mentioned periods the re-registration is mandatory for all users.

In case of there are only one or two copies of the Library Unit in the fund of the Central Library or when any rarity is requested, the Subscriber will use it only at the appropriate reading rooms.

Using of the dissertations is allowed only in the reading rooms.

The Niko Muskhelishvili University Library arranges permanent and periodic exhibitions of printed publications with various - rare, unique, scientific or educational content.

The Niko Muskhelishvili University Library carries out the books exchange by Interlibrary Subscribers Cards.

The bibliographic section of the Niko Muskhelishvili University Library publishes a library-newsletter and various bibliographic publications.

The Niko Muskhelishvili University Library is responsible for:

a) all halls regular and correct functioning, b) for international online links proper functioning, c) receiving electronic information from various libraries.

3. Library structure:

The Niko Muskhelishvili University Library is headed by the Director of the Library that is sel ected by the GTU Academic Council and is the member of the Representative Board of the same University simultaneously.

The number of specialists (librarians) in the Niko Muskhelishvili University Library is determined the GTU Representative Council.

The staff of the Niko Muskhelishvili University Library is appointed or dismissed by the head of the Administration by the recommendation of the Central Library Director.

The Directorate of the Niko Muskhelishvili University Library and the Faculty of Management are engaged in a Faculty librarian receiving or releasing process by the mutual accord.

The Director of the Niko Muskhelishvili University Library is accountable to the GTU Rector and the Head of the Administration.

The Library counseling body is the Library Council.

4. Final provisions:

The provision is effective fr om the moment that it is approved by the GTU Representative Council.

The provision loses its power in case of a new provision approval and / or liquidation of the Library.
